Chief Risk Officer

Michael Payton is Chief Risk Officer supporting acquisitions, construction and operations on a national basis. Michael has over 30 years’ experience in risk management, primarily in the real estate and construction industry.
Prior to joining LURIN, Michael managed complex risk and insurance programs for a premier multifamily development firm, Mill Creek Residential Trust. His previous experience includes working at a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust, a multi-campus higher education system, a national hospitality chain and a large multifamily property management firm.
Michael is a graduate of Texas A&M University and earned designations as a Certified Insurance Counselor, an Associate in Risk Management, and a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist. In addition, Michael has also earned his license as an insurance adjuster, Risk Manager, as well as a property, casualty, life and health insurance agent.
